Extremely Annoying Twitter Problem!

Boy, am I mad at Twitter!

I held a mini-seminar yesterday for a handful of people, showing them how to sign up for and use Twitter. I had each one of them take a turn at the computer to sign up for a Twitter account. Everything seemed to be going pretty smoothly.

Then today, I checked their accounts to see how they were doing and found that everyone in my little class had gotten their new Twitter accounts disabled!

I sent an email to Twitter asking them to turn the accounts back on and I got the usual “we’ll get to it when we get to it” automated reply. Reading through the list of possible offenses included in the reply was something about creating a lot of new accounts at once.

I can only guess that my little class created too many new accounts in too short of time from the same IP address.

Well that really toasts my cheese! I would imagine that I have pretty much blown my credibility with my class. I doubt if they would trust me to teach them anything at this point.

The only bright spot is that Twitter didn’t disable my account, so I can go ahead and tweet about this mess to everyone that will listen.

  2. Don’t be so hard on yourself. I believe people understand tech issues and they are more forgiving than you may think.

    You have introduced them to the fabulous and weird world of twitter.
