It looks like many people are making mistakes regarding the businesses they are getting involved with and what it takes to successfully market them.

There are scores of business opportunities out there and people are pouring into them like fanatics. Some of these opportunities are with companies that have been around for years and are solid, proven winners. If you are one of those people that picked a respectable business opportunity I am pleased for you.

But to my disappointment, there are many companies out there that are pretty wobbly deals. They pledge you instant riches - all you have to do is register for them, pay your monthly fees, and then you can sit back and rake in the cash. WRONG, this is not how it works.

The fact is, there is a giant failure rate among persons trying to start a profitable home based internet or network marketing enterprise. Close to 95% of the folks that join these online business, whether they are established companies or one of the shifty instant get rich schemes, will fail at making enough money to stay in business.

Assuming you picked a dependable business opportunity there is one crucial fact to consider if you want to be among the successful.

You have to understand the marketing required to make your business successful. If you don’t know how to market you will most likely be unsuccessful.

And, you need to understand the most critical piece about marketing and that is the production of leads.

You must have leads so that you can change those leads into sales and/or enroll them into your business. The depressing part is that most network and Internet marketers fall short in the most important part of their marketing - lead generation. And the simple reason is usually because they do not know how to market properly. But you can certainly change that and get the education you require.

To help you obtain a better understanding of the many pieces involved in lead capture, I am going to arrange everything out for you in a relationship diagram or marketing map. The most important piece of the map is at the center - the lead capture page. The lead capture page is vital to your marketing and once you realize how to do all the numerous types of marketing they all point back to one thing – and that is your lead capture page.

No matter what kind of marketing you are doing, whether it’s SEO, MySpace, Digg, Blogs, etc., all of that traffic needs to be targeted to proceed to your lead capture pages.

To say again, all of your marketing needs to send all of your traffic to your lead capture page.

Essentially, the intention is for you to start marketing using any or a mixture of traffic generation - lead generation techniques. Then your marketing efforts will point people to your lead capture page and then you can change that lead into a buying client and/or a prospect to enroll your enterprise.

If all you’re doing is promoting your business, and not capturing leads, you are doing your self a disfavor. You must secure the leads and build interaction with the people whose names you collect.

Now when you learn how to market properly, you will gain knowledge of how to master these different marketing strategies. You do NOT need to master them all so don’t get frightened by how many types of traffic marketing there are. Some very thriving network marketers only use 1 or 2 of these strategies, but they focus on them, get proficient at them, and they take action with them.

You can utilize things like MySpace or Twitter to pull traffic to your lead capture page. You can utilize blogging or article writing to establish yourself as an authority and get traffic to your lead capture page that way. You can also run advertisements on other people’s websites or use Yahoo Search Marketing to get traffic to your leads capture page. Pick one to get going.

Your lead capture page becomes the entry point into your marketing retention and follow up method, because the traffic that you capture there goes into your Autoresponder.

All the leads go into YOUR autoresponder. This is because you need to create a list of your own clients and prospects. This is a vital point, because in the majority of internet business out there, all of your labors go to building a customer list for the company, NOT you!

You need to be doing this no matter what business you are in, whether it’s TriVani, Mary Kay, Rags2Riches, etc. You need to get the traffic to your lead capture so that you can capture the lead.

The autoresponder becomes your email director, your marketing follow-up system and your client retention structure.

By running an autoresponder you can stay in contact with your potential recruits and over time they will be positive to either buy products from you, link up with your business (if you are network marketing) or develop into resellers (if you are in affiliate marketing).

Use the email messages you send out via your autoresponder list to help your contacts. After all, they wouldn’t have opted in for your list if they didn’t think you had something to give them. So don’t disillusion them. Give them gratis things, give them education, teach them, and indirectly sell them on your products or company. Give them marketing training and show them how they can be flourishing with the products you are selling or if they join your business. Under promise and Over deliver!

You can actually earn an income from this. We’ve set ourselves up with products and services so that we can bring in wealth even if people don’t go in with our business. This is because we have built a database of names that we are building relationships with.

So keep in mind, no traffic - no leads, and with no leads you can’t keep your business profitable.

If you are already running a business, you need to create a training curriculum so that you can put forward even more to your catalog of persons. If you have yet to join a company you need to research a company that gives you with the right kind of marketing instruction. A high-quality training program should show people how to set up their lead capture pages and autoresponder and instruct them on which types of traffic generation will work best for them.

Bear in mind, you don’t have to use all the numerous types of marketing to acquire traffic. You can use the various methods independently. The important thing is to use at least one of them, get proficient at it and stick with it.

So don’t waste any more time. Start doing things the right way and get the marketing training you need.
