The subject of pre-selling is one that’s not really understood by most internet network marketers. Those that do and apply it reap the benefits however, one of the more disturbing aspects is there are those who know it’s a powerful concept yet ignore it because it takes too much time to get a prospect from interested to join up.
So what is pre-selling? Basically, it’s a series of messages to prospects taking the form of giving value where trust is then created. It’s designed to show a prospect that you know what you’re talking about and in time, a prospect will see you as an important part of their future business growth.
So what does this all mean? In a nutshell, the prepared sales pitch you have in many instances won’t be required. The prospect will more than likely wonder which company you’re with and this will be you’re in to let them know a little about it.
Does that make sense? The Renegade Network Marketer promotes attraction marketing and pre-selling is an integral part of the process. So why do many consider it too slow in building a team? Because it’s got to do with having a get rich quick mentality and the simple truth is, many still believe delivering the sales pitch first up is the best way to go.
Pre-selling vs. The Sales Pitch
Think about that for a moment and let me explain what it means. What do most MLMers do when they have a prospect. They continually bombard them with how great their company and products are or “if you don’t join now you’ll be sorry.” Let me ask you…would you be turned on to join someone like this in business?
Now let’s take the pre-sell angle. A person comes into your internet network marketing funnel and you immediately send them some information. But it’s not just any old information such as a standard welcome but you give them a report of some kind which can help them in their home business endeavors. It may be a report on article marketing or a collection of tips they can utilize. But make sure they can use them.
You then follow up with more information dripping them training and educational tidbits. You send them an email and ask them if they are using the information and if they want to know more about the material you’re sending them. Offer one-on-one coaching to help them with their business. Notice I said their business. Up until now you haven’t even mentioned your business opportunity.
Can you see what’s happening here? You are building a powerful relationship with someone you’ve never met. This person is still with you because they are starting to view you as someone important in their business building future. You are selling yourself and not the company or products. Once this happens magic begins to happen.
The truth is, it’s you someone will join in business not the company. It’s worth reading The Renegade Network Marketer’s message on pre-selling again:
“The frame in which someone views a message has more of an impact on their decision than the message itself.”
One of the most profound questions you can ask yourself in your internet network marketing business is…”What do my prospects really want?”
Have you asked yourself this lately. It’s one of the biggest factors taught in the Renegade system by Ann Sieg and until you can stop for a moment and decipher what it really means and how much impact it can have on your business it’s likely you’ll continue to struggle to bring new people into your downline.
Forget new theories for the time being; this one phrase has been the foundation for most of the success experienced by the biggest marketers over time. Because once you know what your prospects really want then you’ll be amazed at how this shift in thinking will positively affect your business growth.
In The Renegade Network Marketer, Ann Sieg unleashes the power of attraction marketing and pre-selling. Getting prospects to seek you out is one thing but keeping them idling is another. But once you know what your prospect wants, then it is no longer a matter of how to keep them but more a case of when they’ll join your business.
We’ve spoken a lot about pre-selling and it’s key in this process but if you could spend just a little time figuring out what your prospect really wants, not what you think they want, then magic will happen. Here’s what I mean…
Ann Sieg who wrote and developed the Renegade system openly admits to ignoring this question for far too long. But she persevered and when she discovered the benefits of knowing what her prospects really wanted her business literally took off from a standing start. Here’s a quote from one of her newsletters using cosmetics as an example:
“Women don’t want cosmetics… we really want to improve our appearance, become more attractive, and maybe (hypothetically speaking here) hide a few wrinkles and imperfections while we’re at it! Plus, it is always nice to get compliments from others - especially that special someone - on how beautiful you look.”
Can you see how powerful this can be when you understand it. Don’t lead with the product, lead with the benefits. People want to be recognized, popular, complimented, influential, pain free, comfortable, wealthy, not dependent on others for their finances, worry free…the list goes on.
How many things could you think of that would be thrown into the benefits basket that you could promote in your business. It’s like leading with how great a company is instead of the benefits in your internet network marketing business. People are not interested in the company, they are thinking about themselves and when you touch those hot buttons your at home business growth will follow.
If you have a list and you continually ad-pound your members without giving value it’s a fair bet that sooner rather than later, those list members will eventually opt out.
Why is this? Simply because you’re not providing them with value. It’s one of the key ingredients missing from many running an internet network marketing business; they can attract the prospects but simply can’t get them past that stage.
Now there’s a simple solution for this. You train and educate your members from the moment they enter your lead funnel. Instead of sending them short, punchy sales oriented material why not send them information they can use and act on. Send them links to free resources or write a short report and let them have it.
Until you understand what your prospects really want then it’s going to be an uphill battle for you. Ann Sieg teaches this in The Renegade Network Marketer and confesses she struggled for a long time before giving her prospects what they wanted.
Why Someone Becomes Your Prospect
Maybe they saw you as someone who could lead them to the “promised land.” Here’s a cold hard fact…most people looking for a internet network marketing opportunity do so because they have a problem. It’s usually of a financial nature, either lack of current funds or they want to set up a nest egg for the future that they can live from comfortably and provide for their families.
Emotions come into play and if you can tap into these emotions then you are half way to getting them to join you at some stage down the line in your business. These people are looking for someone to show them how to get to a stage where they are realizing their goals.
Training Your Prospect
One way to build trust with them is to train them from the moment they enter your prospect funnel. Provide tips they can use, show them the right way to build an inter-network marketing business and show them free resources they can go to for now to educate themselves about building an online business.
Sure, you’re not making money right away from them but in the big picture, some of these people could eventually become the Diamonds in your business you’re craving. It’s like growing a garden, some nurturing and care is required in the initial stages and when it takes off well, it will literally fly.
It’s you people are interested in and not the company you’re with. If you earn someone’s trust in the first few weeks then you will be in a strong position to make a recommendation or two. But until you do this, don’t expect many people to hit the buy button when you immediately starting pounding them with sales pitch after sales pitch after they opt into your funnel.

What do you think is the toughest challenge facing MLMers during the vital first 3 months of their business? Yes, it’s cashflow.
Many people are drawn into an MLM business by seeing examples of huge incomes and when they join, they are disappointed to find that making money takes time. 90% of them will drop out within 3 monthsand it is usually because they could not cover their start up costs.
It takes money to run a network marketing business, even if you are working part time from home. You usually have to pay a joining fee on top of buying stock, having your stationery printed etc. Often there is a monthly membership or autoship fee too. New recruits may pay out hundreds or even thousands of dollars in those first 3 months.
You can cover those start up costs very quickly, but not by following the company’s plan. In The Renegade Network Marketer, Ann Sieg hands out a system that can bring in money right away to cover your costs while you are getting started. She hits out hard at the outdated network marketing myths that many uplines are still repeating to new distributors today.
Sidenote: you can find out more about these MLM myths in Ann’s free report, 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing.
When I came across The Renegade Network Marketer I had doubts, even though it was clear that what I had been doing up to then was not working. I thought she might be just another MLM basher. In fact, Ann has a very positive attitude to MLM. It’s just the old methods that she criticizes. Replacing them with her own new methods for the 21st century has brought her huge success.
The Renegade Network Marketer is packed with MLM gold nuggets. Ann never wastes words and really does show how you can make money in MLM without recruiting anyone into your main business. She saves the best information for the end, setting out a success blueprint that is easy to follow. You also get free membership in the Renegade System so that you can put it all into practice right away.
Ann is not particularly tactful and some of the old style MLMers may be offended. That’s too bad. But if the old way is not working for you and you want to understand why the prospecting and recruiting methods you are using are actually hurting your business, it’s worth taking a look. You will see strategies which are not generally taught at those opportunity meetings.

The following is a story all too familiar in the internet network marketing world and while attraction marketing is a concept which has now been with us for some time, it seems there is a mountain of work to do to swing most MLMers around to the concept.
It’s a syndrome called desperate marketer and it is so obvious and rarely gets any results that’s it’s a wonder why people just don’t wake up to the fact that by coming at a prospect like a “bull at a gate” just serves to drive them away.
Ann Sieg made some startling observations in her hard hitting report The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing and a lot of the points she raised all lead to the desperate marketer syndrome. The concept of attraction marketing followed by strong pre-sell tactics all designed to gain the prospect’s trust before the sales pitch, if it’s in fact required, needs to be really understood.
My Brush With A Desperate Marketer
Now I’m the first to admit I was as desperate as anyone when I first ventured into internet network marketing and it took a lot of focused training to get my mindset in the right place. I was recently contacted by who I thought was a prospect and here’s how the call went.
The prospect wanted to know a little more about the renegade system and I’m always happy to give some time when I have it and I was looking forward to also coaching this person a little.
But here’s the thing…within one minute of the conversation starting this fellow launched into a full blown sales pitch about his network marketing opportunity. He spoke about how great his company is, how life changing the products are and I should stop wasting my time studying systems like Ann Sieg’s Renegade.
I was taken aback. It caught me completely by surprise although it’s happened before on a smaller scale. So I listened…and listened…and listened. I had some time and just wanted to see how far he would go. When he finished by asking me for my mailing address so he could send me more information I simply told him you’ve just answered your own question about why I studied books like the Renegade Network Marketer.
I then asked him if he understood the concept of attraction marketing and more importantly, pre-selling. He refused to want to hear what I had to say so the conversation was cut short. I knew about his company and yes, their products are good but I was not looking for a networking opportunity.
You see, attraction marketing is all about putting your offer, whether it’s network marketing, internet marketing or just about any business opportunity in front of a hungry crowd who is ready to receive your message. Your prospects will be more targeted and more receptive to what you will have to say.
What I got was another desperate marketer who put himself first and the prospect second. At no stage did he want to know what my goals were or how I wanted to reach them. I turned off mentally in the first 20 seconds but thought he needed some practice with his sales pitch and that’s why I let him go on.
And every time I get this approach, listening to it just gives me more confidence that I’m on the right path with systems like the Renegade Network Marketer. How about you?
If you are starting an internet network marketing business then one of the first requirements you need is to develop or at least have a long term mindset for success. Here’s what we mean.
Recently, a Renegade system prospect contacted us and simply asked how long it would take to break even using Ann Sieg’s system. This question is one of the one’s we never like to hear although you could understand in a sense it being asked by someone working on a tight budget.
But the truth is, most of the time it’s being asked by someone who has already set themselves up for failure. At worst, it’s someone who doubts they can succeed. Answering a question like this is almost impossible because there are so many variables and usually, they are all connected to the person asking it.
For starters, we have no idea how much effort is going to be put into the implementation of the Renegade Network Marketer blueprint. What we do know is the blueprint is rock solid. There is obviously a learning curve involved especially for those coming online for the first time straight from the battlefields of offline network marketing.
The Attraction Marketing Model
By wondering when you’re going to break even means you’re focusing on the wrong things. Sure, you’re going to be worried about expense but that’s part and parcel with starting most businesses. The question I like to hear is “what can I do to give value to my prospects?”
It gets back to giving value first and when you do this and earn a prospect’s trust then magic does really happen. By going in with a “when will I break even” attitude a person is basically entering a business with a defeatist mind.
And as soon as an obstacle is thrown in their path then their first reaction will be to quit, not because it’s too hard but because they will be thinking about whether they should risk an other autoship payment.
Instead of thinking when you are going to start to break even wouldn’t it be better to set very easy goals short term which you can achieve. For example, start with setting a goal of getting your first prospect followed by a goal of getting five prospects in a week, then five more the next week and so on.
These are easy goals to achieve with the Renegade system. Can you see how powerful using this strategy is for maintaining momentum in your business?
Article marketing continues to be top of the promotion list for people tackling internet network marketing and systems such as The Renegade Network Marketer have opened up a success floodgate for network marketers.
It’s cheap in fact, any cost is almost negligible; it can reach a wide audience and will continue to produce long after an article has been written and submitted for publication. But the majority of network marketers are still making major mistakes.
Untargeted marketing is one of the Achilles heels of the network marketing industry - people applying hit and miss prospecting with little result. Many MLMers are approaching their article marketing the same way. That is, not optimizing their articles for a keyword or keyword phrase.
The emergence of the internet has spawned a new generation of online marketers and most are hungry to learn the specific skills required to make it a success. Article marketing is a great way to start but if you are not applying focused and targeted techniques then it will be unlikely you will achieve much success at all.
In this article, we want to give you some brief examples of using keywords in your article marketing and why they are so important.
Targeting Focused Keywords
Keywords are the crucial first step. Writing an article without targeting a keyword or keyword phrase is indirect article marketing. The article may be well written and be full of good information but it will confuse the heck out of the search engines.
Keywords are the fodder the search engines feed on. When someone types a phrase into their favorite search engine they are looking for information related to that particular phrase.
For example, if you are looking for information on internet network marketing you would type that in and be presented with a list of options.
Now if your article is not optimized for a specific keyword and related terms then it’s really not going to rank for anything. In fact, it may even be a case of whatever words you use in the title, will be the words that rank. This is untargeted and hit and miss.
Long Tail Keywords
So always target a specific keyword. We suggest targeting long tail phrases. Phrases of three or more words. They are easier to rank for and while there will be less people searching for them, they are more focused and people typing them in are usually on a mission, have made up their mind that this is what they want and are generally close to making a buying decision.
So someone typing in learn internet network marketing is likely to be more inclined to buy than someone simply typing in network marketing. The latter will be searching more out of curiosity.
So always frame your articles around a specific keyword phrase and look for terms that indicate a person is focused just on that particular term. This will take your internet MLM to the next level.
When network marketing recruiting, the one stumbling block which faces many MLMers is how they are viewed by their prospects in terms of business experience.
There is a well worn adage in the business learning world which revolves around the point that if you want to make a certain amount of money then you need to be learning from someone who is making it or at least double or even triple what you currently make. On the surface, it’s a sound principle but in network marketing, this is not the case in the majority of situations.
How does a young person with little business experience or a work at home mom increase their credibility in the eyes of their prospects when they are virtually on the same level? Is it a drawback and can it be overcome? Well, the answer is yes to both questions but there is a strong solution in today’s environment and it’s called the internet.
Renegade Network Marketing
The way to get around this is to join the revolution taking place online. It’s called renegade network marketing and the bottom line is, by using attraction marketing techniques, credibility really isn’t an issue anymore because prospects will come to you.
As far as boosting one’s MLM recruiting efforts, when someone actually approaches you about your business opportunity the magic that occurs here is you are suddenly in a position of holding the carrot and the prospect wants it. That’s the power of attraction marketing.
It’s called positioning yourself. When you go after prospects relentlessly using the old prospecting tactics you have nothing to bargain with. The prospect has all the power. You are offering them the chance to join you in business but what are you really offering them. Is it a health product, an opportunity to make lots of money or the chance to start their own home business. Why would a prospect say yes to any of these benefits when they didn’t even ask you for information on your offer.
Targeting Hungry Prospects
Can you see where this is going? It’s the prospect who is positioned to make the decisions. But you can easily turn this around by placing your promotions in front of a hungry home business seeking crowd and gain positioning strength yourself. Instead of harassing and chasing down prospects, attract their attention and get them coming to you.
MLM online is growing rapidly. People are realizing they can prospect more than just their own back yard. They have an entire planet to target and better still, by creating online real estate and offering people informative articles and business building tips instead of a sales pitch, the lead generation machine will be active 24/7.
It’s the precursor to powerful inter-network marketing recruiting strategies. When you position yourself in the prospecting stakes then it’s you who has what the prospect wants and this is the key to getting large sign up numbers in MLM.
By now you’ve no doubt run across the term attraction marketing. It’s one of the most talked about topics in network marketing and basically gained notoriety with the emergence of Renegade Marketing.
So what exactly is it? Well, in a nutshell it’s the process of attracting prospects to you. In other words, instead of you doing the chasing and harassing and hoping people will be interested in your business opportunity MLM attraction marketing dictates that the opposite occurs.
While prospects won’t necessarily be chasing you down they will be contacting you for more information provided you apply the correct target market promotions to attract them. And doesn’t that sound like a much better and less stressful way to build a network marketing business?
Identify Your Target Market
So who is your target market? Home business seekers, people looking at earning extra money working from home or people simply looking for a better way in life and wanting to spend more time with their families. All good choices but it’s still too broad.
Your prime target market in network marketing are network marketers. Plain and simple. Let’s face it, network marketers are prime targeting material simply because they have been there and know what it takes to build an MLM business.
But the problem with the industry has been the huge attrition rate and that means that at any one time, there are huge numbers of network marketers in between companies or searching for a better alternative to what they have at the moment.
The positive aspect is that the majority of MLMers understand the power of network marketing and it’s ability to give them what they want so there is little to do in pitching it’s benefits but going back to finding out what solutions they want then this is the area of your marketing you need to concentrate on.
In other words, they know and understand the benefits but what they really want is someone to show them and teach them how. And it’s the how which is missing in most training grounds in the industry.
Many network marketers will tell their prospects the benefits and what they can achieve and in many respects this is okay. But the truth is that most people know what they want but what they need is a how to process of getting there.
Can you see the power of this? When you are able to demonstrate to someone who approaches you about your business opportunity and you can show them how they can get from a-z then you are well on the way to building a solid down line. And using the how as part of your inter-network attraction marketing promotion will be one of the most powerful things you can implement.
It’s a fair bet if you are entering network marketing today or giving it another try then you’ll run into the term renegade attraction marketing. Let’s get one thing straight though, attraction marketing is nothing new but in MLM, it’s a concept which has gathered momentum simply because the internet has allowed for it’s execution in a more targeted fashion.
However, despite it’s promotion as the key concept to attracting laser targeted prospects into one’s business funnel, many network marketers still struggle with it’s concept and what it actually means.
Here’s what it’s not. It’s not getting a prospect and hitting them up with a sales pitch about your company and products within the first few minutes you chat with them. Attraction marketing is using targeted prospecting methods utilizing the powerful resources of the internet and then adding strong presell tactics to guide the to where you want the to go.
But in the meantime, you give them plenty of valuable information and assistance which brands you as someone they will want to be involved in business with and if done correctly, a sales pitch won’t even be needed.
The Internet Network Marketing Boom
The renegade attraction marketing approach has been made a heck of a lot easier with the internet being used as a breeding ground for attracting targeted prospects.
The problem with the old approach of lead generation when everyone was considered a prospect was hopelessly flawed and contributed greatly to the huge attrition rate with the network marketing business.
It was too hit and miss and amplified the incidence of rejection which is the biggest fear for most network marketers.
With the internet, rejection is kept to the bare minimum. How? By targeting your prospective audience. In other words:
- you create a blog or website or both
- you utilize web 2 properties such as Squidoo, Hub Pages and Wikidot
- you create article content which is submitted to countless article directories on the web
- You optimize your content with specific keywords related to your home business opportunity
- And you market and promote your online real estate to your targeted audience
The result? Provided your content is valuable and can be classed as take away and useful by your prospects, you’ll find that they’ll start to visit your sites on a regular basis, subscribe to your RSS feeds and subscribe to your newsletters.
And once they have entered your prospecting funnel, you start the pre-sell process. That is, you continue to feed them with interesting content, tips, tricks and recommendations within the network marketing business; stuff they can begin to implement right away.
In actual fact, you begin the training process from the moment they come into your lead funnel.
Now this is where most network marketers can’t grasp the concept of this. They cannot conceive the idea of giving away free information. All they want to do is get their prospects in a “headlock” and ram their opportunity down their throats.
In a nutshell, this will only drive them out of your funnel screaming and kicking. They don’t want to hear what’s great about your company or products; they get this pitched to them over and over again by other MLMers.
What they want to know is how you’re going to help them go from the starting line to a reasonable income and the best way you can do this is by teaching instead of selling when they first meet you.
It’s renegade attraction marketing and pre-selling at it’s finest and remember, in the end, it’s you you’re promoting and it’s you they’ll join.
